So it happened You slipped Somewhere in Shanghai I failed to touch down Too casual in formation Too burdened with expectation
So it happened You turned Along the path to Pu Dong I couldn’t walk with you It was just such an impasse Was I supposed to cry or laugh?
At night, as darkness closes in here And dawn breaks there I wonder whether I should have just gone Thrown in the cards here And drawn anew there The justification was the slenderest hope; The beating heart within the breast Rather than the ions of the mind. It was like the fire without the wood The air without the oxygen The head without the heart
So when I ask myself if I’m normal Or if I let myself down And let you down I realise that I was only deceiving myself With fanciful thoughts Running through my head Like so often before And my heart takes over My tortured head.
There’s still a chance - Always a chance Percentages never cared for. But I always know You’ll remember me Be my friend But in the end I really wanted to see Whether we had a hope Of being something more First hand

The Internet inquistitor moves and removes his many masks The information age in the palm of his hand. His disguises are multitudinal and three dimensional Morphing in and out Bits and bites Slights of hand and tilt of head He studies and manipulates Preys on our pleasures and our fears. G. Rainey

A Dream Within A Dream
Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow - You are not wrong, who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar Of a surf-tormented shore, And I hold within my hand Grains of the golden sand - How few! yet how they creep Through my fingers to the deep, While I weep - while I weep! Oh! can I not grasp Them with a tighter clasp? Oh! can I not save One from the pitiless wave? Is all that we see or seem But a dream within a dream?
Edgar Alan Poe

Thou, Boy who must remain nameless, But not nameless to me Impacting upon my thoughts, Shelling this resolve
My own problems seem pale Against such young darkness And the frail light of gathering dusk bleeds from your eyes You look at me with such needful sockets Behind a gathering storm In three years’ time.
